You’re
number one!
Pharmacy Post’s 13th annual
survey proves—yet again— that pharmacists are
the trusted professionals on OTCs. Every 40 minutes or so,
a pharmacist talks with a consumer about nonprescription
products. In fact, pharmacists are unanimous in their belief
that they have an important role in counselling on and recommending
OTC products to patients. These and other results from our
2006 Survey on OTC Counselling & Recommendations only
confirm our long-held conviction that community pharmacists
are the most important resource for Canadians seeking to
purchase and use a nonprescription medicine for themselves
or their loved ones.
This
year marks the 13th time we’ve surveyed Canadian pharmacists
about their views on OTC counselling and to tell us which
products they most often recommend. Those responses are
the basis for selecting one brand in each category as the
one most recommended by pharmacists. The brands that earn
the most mentions may rightfully promote themselves as “Pharmacists'
most recommended.”
Survey methodology
Pharmacy Post’s 2006 Survey on OTC Counselling
& Recommendations was mailed between October 12
and November 6, 2006, to a random sample of Canadian pharmacists. Responses
were received from 551 pharmacists for an overall response rate of 7%.
The margin of error is ±3.5%. 18 times out of 20.
